This is the fastest competition 6-speed in history. With a best competition pass of 8.20 @ 183 no other 6-speed car has gone faster in any event. Yes, there has been 2 other cars faster (7.91 supra and 7.98 viper), but they were not confined by rules and weight restrictions. I have to run an 88mm turbo, and I have to be 3200 lbs.
As many know, this car has an amazing history. I bought the car from Darin Dichiara back in 2010, and since then it has undergone changes to everything but the chassis itself. There is nothing really left from the original setup other than the body and cage.
Darin and I are good friends, he still tunes the car for me. It turned out to be a great partnership which I really never expected. I never planned on racing the car as much as I have, but once I got that 8.36 pass and eclipsed Darin's best time in the car I had the bug. I just had to go faster. It's been an uphill battle since.
When the car ran 8.36 @ 175 it was SUPER simple. The car was on the stock transmission, stock rear end (with a spool), stock ignition system (no box AT ALL), steel rod motor, GT47-88mm turbo, and an old school Greddy 4-row intercooler. Did I mention it still had A/C and power steering too!!! The car was a freak-show!
Since, I have done a Ford 9" rear, ignition box (still on stock coils), Precision 8891 billet wheel turbo, Pro-Jay intake manifold, larger Kelford cams, an ETS 6" air-air intercooler, upgraded to a quad disc Tilton clutch, Titan dry sump system, and had Accelerated Performance build me an aluminum rod 3.0L motor (still on the stock crank)!
Even with all of these changes and upgrades, I still have only gained .2 in ET. My best pass is 8.17 @ 186. So in my mind all of these changes has not been worth it yet. I have gained 11 MPH in the traps, from 175 to 186 so the power is there I just haven't been able to get that 7 second pass.
Stay tuned, as you haven't seen the last of me yet...
