Grannas Racing has developed the first adjustable hydraulic release bearing for the R154 transmission. This concentric slave cylinder or "HRB" is available in both flat face as well as radius face (54mm) to suit all types of clutches. This bearing uses a Tilton 6000 series bearing which we have found to be the best, most reliable bearing available.
Because it is adjustable with a threaded sleeve it allows for easy adjustment to fit any height clutch.
This kit includes:
You can purchase this as do it yourself weld on kit, as a kit with core charge where you send me your front bearing plate, or I can sell it as a brand new front bearing retainer plate ready to go. These include an input shaft seal with the kit as well as the hardware required for install.
I include a new input shaft seal with all kits. If you choose the "weld it myself" version you will need to have access to a tig welder.
Clutch Master:
Due to the large orifice in these bearings, most small bore stock masters (5/8”) will not move enough fluid to get these bearings to travel like they should. I recommend a 3/4” bore clutch master cylinder and I make upgraded master kits for many chassis.
Adjustment:
You want to set this up so there is 3-4mm of air gap between the clutch fingers and the face of the bearing. After you bleed the clutch, this gap goes away and the bearing will contact the clutch fingers at all times (but should not be physically PUSHING on the clutch fingers) Below is a video of how to setup air gap properly along with some good pointers on bearing adjustment.
